Whether you use an alcohol based lotion or a moisturizing balm is up to personal preference. You should ensure that you always use an after shave product to care for your skin. I also stock one of the most traditional aftershaves ever... Alum. I use an alum block every day after shaving. It is a wonderful product that should be in every shaving kit.
